In the 'Sharing Thoughts: Even a Moment' exhibition, the showcased results were a deeper exploration of the diverse ideas previously presented regarding chairs. The project was initiated with the question, 'What is a chair? Can we experience something different from a chair?' The research involved listing emotions not typically felt with chairs and designing three chairs based on methodologies to evoke those emotions. 'Trip to Chair,' the current Sharing Thoughts exhibition, was considered a journey exploring our thoughts on chairs. This time, the focus shifted to the formal and structural considerations necessary for the realization of the chair.
The 'Dongdong Chair' was designed with the goal of providing a sensation of floating on water. Inspired by a buoy, it is designed higher than the average chair size to create an impression of leisure from an elevated position. Structurally, it is designed to rotate at a steady angle, supported by a single axis on the floor. Additionally, a weighted ball underneath creates a slow-floating sensation, reminiscent of floating on water.
