The Pavilion in the courtyard is modeled after the thatched roofs of Korea, and people who visit it share and grow closer to each other. When you look up at the sky over Milan, which has bloomed out of the disheveled thin lines of Korean architecture, you can feel the rustic beauty of the country's architecture, with all its strangeness and harmony. The combination of tile and aluminum creates a new harmony between the disparate qualities of the materials, creating an extraordinary atmosphere. Intentionally avoiding perfection, the slightly disheveled, gentle curves create a relaxing and reassuring space.
Korean tea ceremonies are not about fancy paraphernalia or overly formalized etiquette, but rather about a lyrical place where the objects, people, and nature you encounter are valued and relationships are built through conversation. In a hanok, the courtyard is an important connection between inside and outside, allowing for good airflow, and is usually empty but sometimes structured so that people can gather and interact.
